RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION:
Application
and Interview Process
Each applicant completes
a standard APS application form, which provides information
on formal education, professional/work qualifications
and personal information. Each applicant's eligibility
to work is verified and documented. The objectives of
our interview is to assess a candidate under the following
criteria:
- Tangible/non tangible
skills
- Qualifications
- Character traits
- Goals, aspirations
- Career objectives
- Employment preferences
Upon completion of an in
depth interview, the Customer Service Coordinator formulates
an assessment of the candidate and determines the testing
that the candidate should take.
Testing
We evaluate the candidate
by assessing their skill set. APS's standards ensure that
no candidate is placed until they have successfully completed
the entire evaluation process, thus ensuring the "right
match" for the candidate and the client. Depending
on the candidates skill set the following tests will be
conducted:
- WHMIS Awareness
- Light Industrial Assessment
- Rely for Temps
- Arithmetic
- Reading
- GNP (Food Industry Testing)
- QWIZ Series of Tests
(administered by computer) which includes:
- Typing (words per
minute and accuracy)
- Business Letter
Set-up
- Data Entry - Alpha/numeric
or numeric
- Shorthand
- Dictaphone
- 10 Key Calculator
- Word Processing
(all popular programs available)
Ability to follow oral
and written directions are evaluated by:
- Accurate completion
of application forms
- Instruction on written
tests
- Verbal directions given
by the test administrator
- Tests that are completed
after viewing the WHMIS Training Video
- Assessment of applicant's
responses during the interview
Reference
Checking
It is mandatory that candidates
provide APS with a minimum of two verifiable work references
(if possible).
Our Customer Service Coordinators
conduct reference checks, and the results are documented
on our reference check form. Once the reference checking
process is complete, the candidate is reviewed and an
overall evaluation is completed. After the candidate has
gone through the entire recruitment and selection process,
the Customer Service Coordinator determines the best placements
for the candidate.
The candidate is then considered
pre qualified and ready to be presented to APS's clients
for hiring consideration.
